Viva La Vintage

One of our favorite spots to decorate, the Chicago History Museum, was the picture perfect backdrop for one of our past weekend’s weddings.  So many looks compliment this classic venue but the sweet feminine flair of this celebration really brought a ton of sunshine into the otherwise dreary fall day.

Let’s start with the fabuloso personal flowers, which are always my favorite pieces to design.  The bride carried a simple and sassy bouquet of Polo roses accented with ivory Majolika spray roses and flirty little black and white spotted guinea hen feathers.

The bridesmaids’ golden dresses were paired with petite bursts of contrasting color using purple hydrangea and lisianthus, fuchsia mokara orchids, and bright yellow craspedia.  The men wore stylish boutonnieres of yellow button mums with guinea hen and black biot feathers and ladies wore corsages of yellow mini cymbidium, fuchsia mokara, and craspedia with a little purple ribbon loop.  I love a bridal party with flavor!

This stylish couple got hitched on the museum terrace facing beautiful Lincoln Park.  We framed their altar with a custom designed white painted birch arch accented by colorful blooms and sweet little birds.

Hello Darling’s white vintage vase collection spread the love around the room with bright and bold color blocked designs.  Retro-friendly football and button mums were glamorously glorified in clean pave style arrangements and combined with roses, cymbidium orchids, local dahlias, craspedia, and painted birch branches accented by fuchsia mokara orchids.

I’m so in love with all of our vintage vase silhouettes that I’ve been adding to the HD collection.  They worked so well into all the other adorable coordinating details including the white chiavari chairs with cerise seats which tie the table top elements together with the architectural details of the room.  Check out the hand cut table numbers with bird patterned paper and the cerise menu card tucked into the matching yellow napkins.  The look is completely personalized yet it appears as if it could be a permanent part of the room.  This is how all events should look and feel.  Choosing the right venue to fit your style is so important as it is the backdrop for all of the following décor decisions.

Mary from Take the Cake created this cute as a button cake which we added an asymmetrical fresh flower cascade to.

Thank you to our bride Mary for stepping out on a limb with the funky feathers and colorful palette.  We’re thrilled that you loved the finished product!  Thanks also to Lauren from LOLA Event Productions for asking us to be a part of this really fun day!
